Boxi is handwoven jute light box lamp.

This offering is handwoven by women artisans from disadvantaged communities in Muzaffarnagar, India, using locally sourced jute ropes.

Jute, a renewable and eco-friendly plant fiber, is highly durable. The weaving process begins with the extraction of jute fibers through retting, where jute stems are bundled and immersed in low, running water. Following retting, the stripping process begins, typically carried out by women and children. During stripping, non-fibrous matter is removed, leaving the fibers inside the jute stem ready for weaving.
